Subtitle Now! Day of Action: 6 June 2012

Tomorrow on 6th June (6/6) we are joining #CaptionTHIS campaign in the USA as a day of action using social media to highlight the lack of online subtitling using the hashtag #subtitlesnow on twitter, facebook and email. Adding to that is the quality (or lack of). We are telling websites, broadcasters and the UK government how they fail to subtitle (caption) video content, online streaming, news and live broadcasting online for the UK population. Deaf...

Battle for Accessible tickets- de ja vu!

Guest post by Samantha On April 12th, one of my favourite artists in the world, Rufus Wainwright, announced an Autumn tour, I was interested in going to several of the gigs. The tickets were due to go on sale on Friday 20th April, but members of Rufus’ website could access the ArtistTickets.com presale on Wednesday 18th, which was online only. I’m visually impaired, and need to attend anything like this with a Personal Assistant/Carer....

One Call Insurance implements SMS breakdown service for Deaf customers

Another great result to report One Call Insurance has listened to the complaints of Deaf customer Suzie Jones who complained of deaf discrimination when arranging car insurance. They have sorted out her car insurance and immediately implemented an SMS contact number for Deaf/Hard of hearing customers contacting their breakdown service. A move that benefits everyone. Go Genie wins £25,000 investment at NOKIA’s ‘Pitch n Win’

It’s been quite action packed from Interactivsm in London and now the news that Go Genie won the ‘Pitch n Win’ investment award from NOKIA at the Zellig building in the Custard Factory in Birmingham on 30th June 2010. It was a fierce competition and Pesky People was lucky enough to be shortlisted to be one of eight companies presenting a 10 mins pitch with 10 mins of questioning.
