Being Deaf is no excuse – if you can’t phone you will lose your benefits

A friend an hour ago posted on facebook that her benefits had been stopped all because she couldn’t phone them to arrange an interview (she’s Deaf). She won’t receive her entitlement on Monday. Pesky People asked if we could do a short blog post to alert others to her situation to see if it could get her help and she agreed. Manifesto for a Networked Nation (Disabled need not apply)

The Race to get everyone online by 2012 kicked off on 12 July yet in the stampede to the digital finishing line – Disabled and Deaf people will still be left at the starting block. As the USA celebrates the (ADA) we get the DDA, Big Society and a Race online (by 2012)

Disabled people and Deaf people across the States celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act yesterday and it was streamed live from The White House. It came into force in 1990. The power of the web

How do you reach the widest audience? How do you make people sit up and take notice? Just use digital platforms such as Twitter.
