Battle for Accessible tickets- de ja vu!

On April 12th, one of my favourite artists in the world, Rufus Wainwright, announced an Autumn tour, I was interested in going to several of the gigs. The tickets were due to go on sale on Friday 20th April, but members of Rufus’ website could access the ArtistTickets.com presale on Wednesday 18th, which was online only.
I’m visually impaired, and need to attend anything like this with a Personal Assistant/Carer....

SMK Foundation Awards – Pesky People features in Society Guardian article
Would you believe it has been nearly a year since Pesky People was a finalist in the SMK Foundation Awards 2010 (Consumer Action). The day of the awards ceremony I had to run between A11yLDN 2010 and the ceremony across London with a British Sign Language interpreter chasing after me.

One Call Insurance implements SMS breakdown service for Deaf customers
Another great result to report One Call Insurance has listened to the complaints of Deaf customer Suzie Jones who complained of deaf discrimination when arranging car insurance.
They have sorted out her car insurance and immediately implemented an SMS contact number for Deaf/Hard of hearing customers contacting their breakdown service. A move that benefits everyone.

Ask GoGenie
GoGenie the digital access project that we received £25K from Arts Council England WM earlier this year is finally gearing to be a reality – starting with user experience consultation with Disabled people in January 2011. We are aiming for a prototype to be available by late Spring 2011 in time to secure more funding to build and launch it.
